Q: What is the difference between a video DVD and a DVD-ROM?

A: You may have noticed that some of our training products are available as either DVDs or DVD-ROMs; however you may be unclear on what the actual differences are between the two. When you see a product referred to as being available on DVD, this means that it's a standard video disc, very similar to the commercial movie discs that you get from the video rental store. These discs contain regular broadcast NTSC video (the North American video standard), which are designed to play on a standard set-top DVD player for viewing on a television set. You can always watch our video DVDs with a regular DVD/TV setup, but if your computer supports video DVD playback, you may also watch our training on your computer desktop.

The advantage of DVD-ROMs over video DVDs is that our program provides for a much higher level of interactivity than a video DVD does. This interactivity enriches your training, as the program remembers lessons you've already watched and automatically links to our website for program updates. We can also create better-quality video on a DVD-ROM than on a DVD intended for television viewing, all of which results in a better training experience for you.

Q: I installed the training, when I start the training I get the error "Where is Fantom 250:..."

A: The training disc must be in the computer to run the training.

Q: During installation on a PC, I get an error when installing the Project files to desktop.

A: Go to My Computer, right click on the Total Training disc and click open. Right click on the Lesson files folder and click copy. Go to a blank area of your desktop, right click and click paste.

Q: My training is stalling on my PC.

A: Update your QuickTime Player to version 7 Open QuickTime Player go to Edit > Preferences > QuickTime Preferences. In the first drop down box, select Update Check. Click Update. After updating, go to Edit > Preferences > QuickTime Preferences. In the first drop down box select Video Settings. Select Safe Mode (GDI Only).

Q: The sound in my training cuts out or is not clear on my PC.

A: For QuickTime 6.5.2 or earlier: Open QuickTime Player. Go to Edit > Preferences > QuickTime Preferences. In the first drop down box, select Sound Out. Under Choose a device for play back: choose WaveOut (if you have more than one WaveOut choose Windows preferred device or you're the correct sound card. For QuickTime 7.0 or later: Open QuickTime Player. Go to Edit > Preferences > QuickTime Preferences. Click on the Audio Tab. Put a check next to Safe Mode (waveOut only).

Q: Why is video training better than any other training?

A: Video training is far more visual and dynamic than learning via books, providing for a much more understandable and memorable training experience. Like classroom learning, video training is led by an instructor, but it has the additional value of one-on-one instruction at any time. This means you can go back as frequently as necessary to review material you've seen before, or skip ahead to things you can't wait to learn.

Q: What makes Total Training's products so special?

Q: What's the best way to use my new training?

A: You can choose to just watch the training on its own, but the optimal learning experience is to simultaneously follow along with our instructor on your own computer system and do the exercises as you see them done on screen. That means you ideally would have some way of watching the training and using your software at the same time

Q: Are your training products Windows or Macintosh compatible?

A: Our training DVDs and CD-ROMs are both cross-platform compatible, meaning they will play on any Windows or Macintosh computer.
